Kira was told by Jamison that his father was dead in Gathering Blue, but he was actually alive.
Matt/Matty (Deceased after Messenger) - Friend. She is shown throughout Part 3 and talks to Gabe towards the end. Kira first shown with Jonas in their house, after she had put Matthew and Annabelle to bed. Kira is married to Jonas and now lives in the Village where her father used to live ( Christopher), and they have to kids Annabelle, and Matthew, named after Matty and Annabella. Matt helps Kira to bring her to Village, when the borders were closing. Kira makes small appearances in the Village, while Matt is the main protagonist. Thomas helped Kira remember what plants (and what parts of plants) to use when making dyes for thread. Kira and Thomas lived in rooms that were close to each other. He was supposed to restore the Singer's Staff. She was only to repair the Robe (like her mother), and restore it. She then started to spend time with Annabella (until Annabella died), learning to dye threads for the Robe. Kira's job, when she was at the Council Edifice, was to repair the Singer's Robe. Kira was then allowed to stay (after Vandara said things that made Kira seem like she was the most awful thing in the world) in the Council Edifice. She was taken to the Council of Guardians when Vandara wanted to make a pen for the little tykes and animals that disturbed the work that everyone was doing. Her mother, Katrina, died of an unknown illness (though Kira thought that she might have been poisoned) and her home, called a cott (presumably short for cottage), was burned to prevent spreading the illness to the rest of the community. She becomes a Threader, living at the Council Edifice. She was born with a twisted leg and is disabled. Kira is the main character of Gathering Blue.
